    Ans: examples of healthy entertainment for young people are suitable sports facilities, movie theatres, parks in every district and community centres as a place for teenagers to come together and work out under the oversight of counsellors and sports trainers.

    2. In paragraph 8, line 5, the writer uses the word ‘acquire’ to describe the way children develop violent behaviour. Why do you think the writer wrote it so?
    Ans: It is because such vehement conduct is developed from the influence of the computer games revolving around bloodshed and dominance which is catered by their parents who are unconcerned about their character. Hence this akin to a give and take process.
    The writer wants to show that it is through parent’s ignorance and disregard for their children that cause them to develop such vehement conduct.

    1) (Content) What is the difference between Singapore’s and American’s form democracy? [2]

    Ans:In Singapore, there is an unlimited access to information and people are able to say what they want. In addition, Singapore’s form of democracy is leadership by able and talented people and it treats everybody equally. However, America does not have such a form of democracy.

    2) Why does the writer compare Singapore’s political system to the West minister parliamentary model? [2]

    The writer compares Singapore’s political system to the West minister parliamentary model to show that Singapore’s political synonym stems out from the west minister parliamentary model and how both are prime ministerial government.

    ‎1) In running a company, the CEO usually only has one target, which is to make money for his/ her company, and only needs to focus primarily on one product or consumer base. However, when running a country, the president has to focus on and handle several things simultaneously, some of these which are contrary to one another.

    The government wants to make health-subsidised insurance compulsory for the citizens of the United States, and the controversy is that the insurance is actually paid for by the tax payers’ money, and some people who cannot afford it are just left to die. However, many people also support Obamacare because Obamacare takes away the power of insurance companies to deny coverage on any pretext, including pre-existing conditions.

    The violent behaviour seen in the children is not an innate behaviour which come naturally when they were born; rather, it was after playing violent computer games that the children gained on a violent behaviour, thus the author also used ‘acquire’ to show how behaviour can be obtained like a physical object. This also attracts the attention of the audience.

  14. Q1) The writer’s stand is that CEOs should not run countries because to generalize from the one-business level to the national economy is a something illogical and risky. Companies are not like economies as they only have on niche while an economy is much more complicated and affects many.


    Q2) It is because the CEO fallacy is a misconception which can have a negative impact on a country’s economy. Thus given that suffering is a verb with a negative connotation, it is more effective in bringing out the author’s intention.

    The debate is controversial because some see it as an invasion of the rights of the people and feel that it is immoral because the insurance has to be paid for by tax payers. However others feel that everyone requires health-care services, and hence that it is acceptable for the government to do so.
